Where to Stay on Manitoulin Island: FAQ’s

When you are deciding on where to stay on Manitoulin Island, there are a few factors to consider. Do you want to stay directly on the water? How many people are coming (you’ll want a resort that can accommodate a large group). Do you have pets (some resorts like Timberlane are pet friendly!). What activities do you want to do while you’re here? Do you require a fishing boat?

We’ve put together this handy FAQ to answer some of the questions you might have when booking a cottage on Manitoulin Island!

Where is the best area on Manitoulin Island to stay?

All of Manitoulin Island is beautiful, however we are biased and think Timberlane has the best that Manitoulin has to offer!

Timberlane is hidden away in a quiet location on Timberlane Bay along the South shore of Lake Manitou on 200 acres of quiet countryside in Canada’s Great-Lakes country. We are fairly central to everything on the island, so whether you come by ferry or the bridge, we are fairly easy and quick to get to. We are also close to some of the largest tourist attractions including the Cup and Saucer Trail (20 minutes) and Bridal Veil falls (35 minutes).

How do I get to Manitoulin Island?

To get to Manitoulin Island, you can either drive to the swing bridge located in Little Current, drive to Tobermory and then take the ferry, or you can fly, though major airlines do not fly directly to Manitoulin. See below for more details on flying to Manitoulin Island.
